today was the day i didnt break my record. i left the lab at 4 pm instead of before lunch ):
but it's okay - primary plate count results were good (: spectro results are always just being annoying. decided to do 0% concentration replicate which i failed to do yesterday because i decided to change the duration after the first set of results didnt yield spectro results with significant differences.
colony counting was... well, let's just say counting 1500 to 2000 colonies per plate wasnt exactly the most wonderful way to spend a nice rainy afternoon. but i have to admit, after completing the colony count and looking at the thousands of green dots on the petri dish, there's this sense of satisfaction - a hey-wow-look-what-i-did feeling, though it's also mingled with an oh-dear-i-have-to-do-the-same-thing-for-the-rest-of-the-plates feeling.
at least we had lunch at broadway today, instead of the sac (more specifically, just for mee). the usual chem and bio people. james and his slightly overdone soft-boiled eggs were pretty amusing. i did tell him to leave it for only 6 minutes.
made a trip to ntuc to check out dragon fruit prices. SO CHEAP! the offer is valid till 9 december (: 3 for $1.45 - that's a lot cheaper than that in cold storage. i shall purchase them tomorrow.
i think i've just stepped into the holiday period. finally had the time to bake something today. had an enjoyable time reading the cake bible. shall try out one of the recipes from there tomorrow. grandma's birthday party on sunday, going to prepare something.
love the times when you can just do what you've been waiting to do for a long time.
looking forward to this weekend - a detachment from ee, albeit a temporary one. temporary meaning it ends the moment i touch down in singapore after going overseas. but i'm still going to work on my report overseas. anyway, lots of baking to look forward to, plus my grandma's party.
just wish our holidays were extended. or at least we could be granted a two month holiday since this nov-dec hol has been stolen by ee? fat chance.
eu and i were just fantasizing about our extremely long and well-deserved post-ib holiday yesterday.
it will come.
soon... just not as soon as we'd like it to be.
tomorrow may be even brighter than today.
